Hatte am fr eine hope tech 3v4, am dh eine guide rs dh (re mit rs hebeln) die ich mit guide rsc hebeln versehen hab. The basic difference between the e4 and the v4 is that the e4 has two smaller pistons, whereas the v4 has one small piston and one large piston.

What are you using them for/on? Nicht so laut, wie das übliche kreischen bei nassen bremsen, sondern eher so leise und hochfrequent, wie man es schon mal bei älteren autos hört. Die bremsleistung der sram war in allen punkten wesentlich besser als die der hope.

The e4’s use only 14mm pistons and a standard thickness rotor. E4 are the only brakes i buy, imo they piss all over. Hope has clearly worked hard on its latest downhill brakes.

We were impressed with the €109 magura mt5 model last year, finding their balance of power and price more than tempting. Still made in the uk after all these years, hope are a brand with real style, deeply appealing to the aficionados out there. V4 are designed for dh riding, e4 for enduro/am.

But if you wanna spend the extra then knock yourself out. They do deal with heat very well, but all out power is also important (to me). The difference between x2 and e4 calipers is only 25g or so.

E4 have oodles of stopping power and modulation, more than enough for a hefty rider (80kg+) on a long travel bike, riding enduro type trails without fade. So if x2 isn't strong enough seems like e4 would be the better choice instead of bigger rotors unless sticking pistons/uneven wear from 4 pot is really that bad. Inconsistent lever, complete pain in the arse to bleed and they. I have v4’s on the dh bike and they are noticeably more powerful than the e4’s on my trail bike. Compared to other brakes, hope is somewhat down on hydraulic advantage.

V4 are overkill unless they're for full on dh racing or you weigh 120kg+. And there’s still a lot to like about the mt5s: Grassingtons winter bike experience has be worried since its only a 26er.
